addie juell @ 6 spring street.

cool new world of emerging talent + art happening at jen bekman's storefront gallery (from the old hood representing a new way to look @ things).

the artist, addie juell is doing some wicked cool stuff. from the release: "..work is a conceptual montage of exploration, curiosity and meditation on the nature of artifice and existence. Her work utilizes pre-fabricated stickers that are cut up and rearranged on paper to create entirely new compositions. The artist, however, does not exhibit this sticker arrangement as her finished piece, but chooses instead to present a photograph of the work that flattens the physical surface, but not the rich, visual texture of the image."

Met Ms. Juell via Ms. B with WORLD FAMOUS! lombardi's pizza, a glass of vino (for me), lots of flowers, neigborhood lookouts + the usual chit-chat. gallery is located @ 6 spring st., between elizabeth st. and bowery. CHECK IT OUT!

footnote to it all; the fantastic Ms. B is back at work on her blog, personism.

NEW WAVES.

pounding the pavement in NYC.
the report...incoming.

city museum (on location in saint lou)

nico + i hit the city museum in stl-land on sunday. wow. great visual treat. lots to climb and fall down on, i experienced a spell of vertigo high a top monstro-city as little kids (assuming they are completely fearless) climbed above + below me. other funnies were us sitting in on monty python screening + going down the gia-normous slides. cabin bar located on the premises (with ZERO Anheuser-B. products) NOW...that's my kinda' place.

fun facts: 'Housed in the 600,000 square-foot former International Shoe Company, the museum is an eclectic mixture of children's playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects. The brainchild of internationally acclaimed artist Bob Cassilly, a classically trained sculptor and serial entrepreneur..."

spring is around da' corner.

dig these birds from pylones, $16 a pop for all your paperclips or just to chill out around your space. the online + reallife store also carry other reasonable + super colorful choices for office, household, garden and, well, it's all quite endless.

one for the campers.

should i have the space (wink, wink); this would be a fun art project + nice retreat from the outside...brought to you by designers Andria Frankfort + Brooke Halverson for modern nursery. yes, as seen in Dwell.

lain.

+ those pretty doe eyes as Wednesday's muse; the japanese anmi star is looking for the truth. the films have a 80s technology feel but oddly feel on track, ditto the emo kid thing.

great style too...

dedication to the old school.

my favorite sneaks (besides chuck T's) are these Simples, a little known shoe company outside of California (which i just ordered for a whopping 18.95) from Sierra Trading Post they are liquidating in colors of taupe, blue and black; for the boys + the girls. i suggest you pick up a pair...tres comfy. great style street shoes.

also dig this rubba toe in baby blue; from the simple site.

dl & company + the company it keeps.

love these notecards (50 dollars) from california modern alchemist + purveyors of curious goods-- DL & Company. the black skull candle is great (it also comes in red) and a few versions have crystal eye patches. they are at barneys and online at a boutique in STL called testimo. mr. bones will run you 75 beans. the elaborate jewel skull will take 250 out of your account.

paul smith + his vintage curiosity shoppe.

oh yes, favorite UK designer, paul smith, has taken his love of all things vintage (furniture, lamps, etc. etc. and on and on) and per the new york times home report, as opened a store with all things favorite. now, this business is not cheap but it's nice eye candy and should you hop the pond (often) or desire a visit, by all means, do so. but...save those pennies. the address: 9 Albermarle Street in Mayfair. sigur ros.

i forgot to mention (i've been busy; apologies) what a terrific, uber-chill show i saw at the pageant con nico. the Icelandic band sigur ros blew me away; dreamy, lyrical and insanely unique. they recently played new york and looks like next stops include hong kong + the far east.

chirp. chirp.

per my reading a little new york times piece with pal jen bekman about the magic of the Tsutomu Suzuki breezy singer birds, i'm reminded to post them + mention that DWR is having a little special (4 birds for $60 bucks). ahh, yes, they make great gifts and look cool in your world too.
